WBA visar vägen - ingen bojkott av ryska boxare

Proffsförbundet WBA har deklarerat att de åter tillåter ryska och vitryska boxare att deltaga i titelmatcher och att de kommer att ingå på kommande rankinglistor.
Det är ett bra beslut som Riksidrottsförbundet (RF) och Svenska Boxningsförbundet också borde följa. Bojkott av idrottsmän- och kvinnor är så futilt. Det förändrar ingenting, förutom att bojkottivrarna får känna sig som oerhört goda människor. Det blir något religiöst över det hela. Finns det någon som hört RF agitera för bojkott av exempelvis USA? En nation som åtskilliga gånger under historien visat omvärlden omsorg genom att vräka bomber i skallen på otaliga nationers invånare. 
I Iran pågår det ett fruktansvärt krig mot dess kvinnor, men i den saken är regering, opposition och RF tysta som möss. 
Hyckleriet saknar alltid gräns.

"The World Boxing Association (WBA), through its Championships Committee and Ratings Committee, issued a statement in which it decided to reinstate Russian and Belarusian boxers to their place in the rankings.
The athletes from this country are not soldiers or part of the government, so they have nothing to do with the war against Ukraine or any ongoing conflict. However, it was determined that any fighter who speaks out in favor of the war or is involved in it will be removed immediately. For the sake of the sport and in favor of the careers of the fighters, they will be able to return to the rankings and fight for WBA titles. The decision was made after an extensive deliberation of all the members of both committees during the Centennial Convention of the World Boxing Association (WBA), taking place since Sunday, December 11 at the Caribe Royale Hotel in Orlando, Florida."

Nedan IBA President Umar Kremlev commented on the decision.
"The World Boxing Association (WBA) restored Russian and Belarusian athletes in their ratings.
Sport should exist outside of politics – this is the principle that we adhere to in IBA. After our personal meeting with President Mendoza, we came to a common opinion on this matter. I am glad that WBA leadership shares this principle and welcome today’s decision to restore Russian and Belarusian athletes in the WBA ratings,” Umar Kremlev said.
The meeting of the heads of two international boxing organisations took place at the end of November in Mexico City. Umar Kremlev (IBA) and Gilberto Mendoza (WBA) agreed on future cooperation between the organisations and the development of a roadmap for joint work.
Moreover, the topic of the lack of political influence on sports and the lives of athletes was central ones.
A few months ago the International Boxing Association (IBA) allowed boxers from Russia and Belarus to participate in international competitions. Athletes will compete under national flags. If they win, the national anthem will be played."
