"Hans Büchi was one of the top Swiss amateur boxers for much of the 1950s. A member of his hometown club, Boxclub Zürich, Büchi began boxing at the age of 11 was the winner of five national championship titles, in 1952, 1955, 1957–58 and 1962, in addition to being the runner up on another five occasions. During his career, he was selected to compete at the Olympic Games to represent his country on two occasions, with his best result coming at Roma 1960, where he was defeated in the quarter final round by Ion Monea of Romania. He retired from competition in 1964 after an unsuccessful comeback attempt in hopes of competing once again at the Olympic Games. He later became a trainer and coach at his club, and was a graphic artist/offset printer by profession."
